Credit Counseling And BBB

So, I've been looking around the internet for credit counseling companies that can help me, and I know how important the BBB is in terms of quality and standards and all that... can you please give me a list of companies that are accredited by the BBB?

There isn't really an exhaustive list on credit counselors accredited by the BBB. The best way that you can be able to find out if the company you wish to work with complies with BBB standards is to check out their company website and see if they have a BBB logo displayed there. Or, you can go to the BBB website (http://www.bbb.org) and search for their listing under the Bureau.

The Bureau also doesn't specifically recommend certain businesses to consumers. Their main function is simply to provide information to consumers. Even if it is also funded by businesses, the BBB states that "its value to businesses depends on its neutrality."

but do you have any idea what does the BBB say about these companies in general? I'm just being sure that I am making the right decision.

The BBB's pointers on how to choose a credit counseling agency:

What else should i consider aside from the BBB's say on a credit counseling agency?

They also have to be affiliated with a regulating agency that specifically handles credit counseling agencies. If you are working with a non-profit agency, it would be best if they were affiliated with the National Foundation for Credit Counseling, or http://www.nfcc.org.

It doesn't just apply to the BBB accredited companies, from what I know, but typically it's around $25-30 monthly.

Credit counseling according to the BBB:
Before you select a credit counseling agency ask for information on the following:
Are the agency services confidential?
Will they devise a plan tailored to fit your needs?
Are the counselors certified?
Are budget and credit education opportunities offered?
Will your funds be protected? How?
Is the agency accredited?
