You can use this website- http://www.usdoj.gov/ust/eo/bapcpa/ccde/cc_approved.htm to find a list of credit counseling services. All you have to do is select the state (judicial district) that you live in and a list of credit counseling services will appear.

Once you have the list, you may want to supplement your search by taking a look at the company's profile with the Better Business Bureau. Their website is www.bbb.org, and there you can get an idea of the company rating, how long they have been in business, how many complaints they have etc.

Hi, may I ask why you are looking for a list of credit counseling services (providers)? Are you filing bankruptcy or avoiding it?

Just to give you another option, if you are looking for a debt relief service that is, aside from credit counseling, you also may want to look into debt settlement.

A list of reputable debt settlement companies can be found here: www.tascsite.org (The Association of Settlement Companies)

If your debt amount totals to over $10,000 and your accounts mostly past due you will qualify for this program. What debt settlement can do for you is cut your total debt amount to more or less half, and reduce your monthly payments.

Accreditation especially with the BBB is key. They ensure that the company has a good working relationship especially with the consumers and that they aren;t out to get them of their money.
