The best way to get debt settlement company ratings is to go through the Better Business Bureau. You can go to their website, bbb.org, and search for the companies you are interested in. The BBB now uses an A to F grading scale for debt settlement companies, which is a huge upgrade from their previous rating system of either "satisfactory" or "unsatisfactory."

Hi Need Help, here's a list that I think can help you, based on the BBB ratingshttp://blog.stopccdebt.com/?p=188

As far as ratings go I believe the BBB is the only place that has debt settlement company ratings that use the grading scale. Another suggestion I could make is to check and see if the company is a member of TASC, which is The Association of Settlement Companies.

I think that instead of just relying on debt settlement companies' ratings (which does not really exist yet) try to instead know how to choose the right debt settlement company for you. Each consumer has a unique financial issue and even if the debt settlement company that you have chosen, for example, is number 1 in a credible debt settlement company rating bureau (if ever someone puts up one), but you are not compatible with their system--what do you think are the chances of your debts being successfully eliminated and your credit report coming out of the program much better than before?

I agree with itsnatasha, looking at debt settlement companies' ratings can only help in so far as tell you which ones are credible, and from which ones to choose from, but specifically--I'm afraid you are going to have to speak with their representatives to find out if you have matching personalities. I say that because it is money talk, and when it's money talk, things can easily go wrong. One of the questions that you can ask debt settlement companies that you have singled out is --whether or not they offer any type of bankruptcy assistance should debt settlement not work out for you? Are they willing to give you a refund should the debt settlement program fail? You'd want a company that has your best interest in mind and not just one with a high rating.

Debt settlement companies ratings groups, how come they do not exist?

To answer The Question, debt settlement companies ratings groups do not exist YET because the debt settlement industry is still very young, the oldest companies, are maybe just 5 years old. I'm not sure, but that's the reason why there are conflicts and issues arising from it, as reported by disgruntled consumers.

The best way to do so is do research--not just thru the Internet or via the Yellow Pages. IT always helps to check out the BBB, as mentioned earlier, so you'd know which company would be best to work with.
