Good day to all.I have received countless calls from the NCO Financial Collections Agency claiming that I owe them debts. I have specifically requested that they send me proof regarding this, but to no avail.I have also informed them not to call me. I have explained to them that I am on disability and only making enough to have a roof over my head.Kindly assist or advise me on this matter. Thank YouBeulah Roarke

Hi Beulah,Have you written a Cease and Desist letter to the company? A verbal request for collection calls actually won't suffice. They need written documentation on this.

Hi Mrs Beulah Roarke and everyone else who reads thisThe NCO Group was sued by the Federal TRade Commission a couple years ago for some credit reporting violations. They reported the wrong sorts of information to the credit bureaus. Instead of providing them with the correct dates that the account holder's accounts got behind, they gave the bureaus information that was false. The dates were actually later than usual. They were asked to pay 1.5M $ in penalties because of that

Beulah, I agree with caffeinatrix; you need to write them a Cease & Desist letter. This way, you may be able to stop hearing from this company. The next time they call you, ask for their Cease & Desist address, and simply write your request stating that you no longer wish to receive calls from the institution. Debt collection agencies typically stop calls for fourteen days, for processing purposes. After that you won't be hearing from them any longer via telephone.

I find this fact surprising: NCO has an A rating with the BBB, yet has 1415 consumer complaints in the last 36 months, and 431 complaints within the last 12 months. I don't quite understand it myself.

That does appear to be a lot of complaints at first glance. And by no means am I supporting some of the tactics that collection agencies use. However, it is really easy to file a complaint with the BBB, and I am sure a lot of people do that out of frustration for the fact that they are being called by a collection agency for a debt that they can't afford to repay. For example, do you know that there is no restriction under the Fair Dent Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) on the number of times a debt collector can call you between the hours of 8 AM and 9 PM local time if you have not properly instructed them not to do so? The best thing to do is familiarize yourself with the FDCPA. If a collection agency is in fact in violation of the FDCPA, then it would be appropriate to file a complaint with the BBB, Attorney General and/or the FTC.

I am working with NCO, the guy Stokes is very rude. This people play nasty games with customers. They do not want to have a correspondence in writing. I have to use nasty language to make them fax me a letter about the settlement. I owe $16700 on a credit card and they settle with me for $5500. They were insisting me to give my financial information like debt card or checking account. I refused to give any kind of info. After reading all the complaints I have to be carefull with this company. Do you think I am going in right direction of settleing my account. I did not see any address of the company on their website. They want my info but they don't want to give me their information
