To find out if a debt management agency is legit, or government approved, you need to first check out their rating at the Better Business Bureau. Here you can find customer complaints, business practices, and other similar information. Visiting the Dept of Justice website will also help you to see if the company is government approved or not. Most likely any feedback from your state's Atty General may also appear here. Doing personal research will also help you shop for the right agency and keep you on track on your search for the right agency.

Thanks for helpful tips PurpleCow. I did some Internet research on DCC, they seem to be very popular on the web. They have received a "C" rating from the BBB and 82 complaints from customers from the past 36 months.

oh, seriously, i don't want you hiring their services. i stumbled upon them on my search for the right debt management company and read some reviews. there aren't a lot but the few that i found were really bad. they have soooooooooooooooooooo many negative reviews, too. like one lady was complaining that her payments were never made on time. she was current but her balances were huge so what she did was ask for help from these guys. now she says her credit's gone worse because delray would delay her payments big time. so i got a little scared from what i found out and i'm not gonna be taking them nuh uhcan you recommend other debt help companies? i still am looking for alternatives

I did some further fact-finding, and apparently Delray Debt Counseling isn't included on the Department of Justice listing, which means that they are not a government-approved organization.Anyone else care to share more thoughts on them?
