What are my choices

Everything seemed to coming together until my car insurance lapsed. I found out on Friday, and on Monday, I was on my way to buy new insurance when I totalled my leased vehicle. It was cosigned, and only 6 months left on the lease.
What are my choices, really? At present I can't pay a double car payment and rent.
I am sorry to hear that.. You are stuck between a rock and a hard stone with no insurance and then the accident.. You will be paying big time now..:(
Depending on where you live, you may be prosecuted for driving without insurance. In a situation like that, get a friend to drive you, take a bus, or spring for a taxi. This applies to anything that may make it illegal to drive. If you are going to court for an offense that could result in loss or suspension of your license, you should not drive yourself. If you lose your case, the suspension or loss starts immediately, and you will get caught if you try to drive yourself home.
You may also have trouble getting the chance to make a car payment. You let the insurance lapse on a leased car. No one will want to lease another car to you.
You will also owe more than the remaining lease payments, since your payments were based on your returning the car in good shape.

Hey Sigs. Did you ever find out what you should do? That's a pretty rough situation you're in. Come back and give us an update. I hope things worked out.
