Well, I think it's good to have any of these if you intend on using services like flights or what not. If you have a history of cancer in the family for eg, it is a good idea. Just know in situations like that your rates may be higher.
Pet insurance seems to be another big one these days as well.

Flight insurance you can usually get for a small fee from your credit card if you use that card to pay for the ticket (I know American Express does this). When you say service contracts, do you mean like the one's Best Buy and Circuit City try to push on you? Those are complete rip-offs.
I always thought about child insurance. It is good to have, but my children are all grown now and have there insurance. I am glad I did't need it.
