What books about investments do people find helpful and have thought to be good for beginners?
Anything written by the guys over at The Motley Fool is an excellent resource for beginning investors. They break things down in an easy to understand format and have an excellent track record .
I think Forbes is a good way to start..:D

am not sure if investment books help you but going through different forums and sites like this is surely going to help you out. most of the people go through forums and sites only to get info about investment rather than going for any book.
I came across two excellent web sites last week, if it helps.
The first might be a little advanced, it was Financial Sense Online and the second which was not a stock / investment picking site, but more of an information site was Learn secrets of the stock exchange for improved profits!
If I pass by any others, I'll add a note.
Best wishes.
edit - not sure how the link above works, I typed the http address and different links appeared. Very impressive!!
