Preparing and carrying a lunch every day can be a very helpful on the budget. I have two children in school - one in high school, one in college - and they have always taken food from home. They prefer this because they spend no time waiting in lines, rushing to eat, and they also limit their intake of junk food. They have participated in purchasing "special" meals for holidays or theme days but, in general, the food for their lunches forms part of the weekly grocery budget.

Bringing your own food is better if the food around your school are expensive. Find the cheapest one but that doesn't mean you are sacrificing the quality of the food.

Make yourself or atleast take a lunch with yourself so that you can eat healthy food and also save money. If its not possible to carry lunch box then you can explore your college canteen or nearby food store and search for some worthy item for you.
