I think, one should have self-discipline at the first place. He must learn to turn off the lights and closing the faucet every time he doesn't need it. It's a simple way in saving power and water supply.

many ways to save water and electricity, for me maintenance for both utilities are required, like fixed leaking faucet or change faulty bulb or wires, and turn offs the unnecessary lights, or running water faucet when your not in the house.

Save electricity:- unplug appliances when not in use. - defrost your refrigerator. - don't use a/c all the time. - the next time you want to buy new appliances, choose those with the energy star logo because they are energy-efficient.Save water:- always turn off the water while brushing your teeth- don't always use the toilet flush, instead, put a big plastic container and fill it with water used from doing the laundry- don't let the faucet run while you clean vegetables. Rinse them in a filled sink or basin- don't water the lawn on windy days because there's too much evaporation. . - don't defrost frozen foods with running water. Just plan ahead by placing frozen items in the refrigerator overnight or defrost them in the microwave.

use a electric fan than aircondition. recycle water by using the water used in the laundry to water the plants or rinsing the car. use a pail than a hose when cleaning a car.
