I always prepare my own food, so I can save money. If I visit to my library I can find many  books dedicated to cooking proper meals in minutes.

Yes, Hanan. I sometimes get the recipes online, sometimes I look at some books,  sometimes I follow the suggestions of my friends.

Cooking for yourself is definitely cheaper than eating out. I too try to cook and eat in most of the week.

I think that it is important to prepare some meals at home. Cooking at home is much easier than you think. Also it is cheaper and healthier than take-out and dining out.

i like to eat home-cooked meals as they are more nutritious than outside ones.also, i can save more by reducing the portion and ingredients of the meal.

Ready meals can be expensive... it's best if we just prepare our own meals at home.. i used to eat out a lot before but when i've had my own place/flat, i've learned how to become practical and a wise shopper too..=)

I think people tend to spend more on purchasing "outside" food, fast food, or prepared foods than they even realize.  Adding up the cost every coffee run, snack machine purchase, along with full meals from/in restaurants, probably results to a lot of money spent for some.  Grocery and food spending is definitely variable.  It's something we can control, unlike our fixed expenses for mortgage or rent and other contracted items.  I'm always tempted to order in when I'm tired.  Cooking can be such a chore!  However, I've tried to adopt better time management habits.  I prepare fresh vegetables when I bring them home from the store (such as cutting them up and bagging them to place in the crisper drawer... this can save SO much time and effort on a busy night).  Meats can be divided from bulk purchase packaging and frozen in meal-sized portions.  When cooking, always make extra... double up on a batch of pasta sauce or chili and freeze half so you have a meal already prepared.  It takes a bit of planning but it definitely adds up to more savings.
