Make a list of expenses or track down all cashouts made so you will know if you already go beyond your monthly budget. It will also help you decide on what to cut for over expense, just make this as your routine.

Computer software can really ease up the work for you, but unless you have portable units with you to remind you it's much better to go low tech, so you can always remind yourself.

I try to keep up with all my money going out and coming in. I'll start doing good. Then I'll forget. I have my own small business. When it's tax time I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out everything.

it takes discipline to stick to a budget. most like we put on our list, groceries, utilities, credit card payments, etc.. but how about that 2$ you spent on cigarettes, or that 10$ for a nice cup of star bucks coffee and muffins. or how about a 20$ lunch on a nice restaurant,. or 15$ cab ride because your in a hurry. the truth is this small things that we overlook that causes budgets to fail

Better allocate a separate accuntant note for this, so that nothing goes out of you hand in finance!

Maintain Spotless Credit Your credit is one of the most important resources you will ever have when saving money. Basically, the better your credit, the lower your risk profile and therefore the lower your interest rates will be. More importantly, good credit is of the utmost importance when buying a house or taking any kind of loan. And even more importantly, if you ever get into a bind or run into a cash liquidity problem, having good credit will vastly help you raise the funds you need at reasonable prices. If you haven't looked at your credit report in a while, you should do so soon. Click here to learn more about your credit. The next rule is to rationalize your spending.

If you keep track of your budget, you have to be very disciplined. You have to really keep accurate record of all your expenses. (Money going out and coming in.) If you are not accurate, you could find yourself in trouble.

Since I am not ggod at keeping track of all my expenses, I keep all my receipts in a folder for the year. I don't write down all my expenses. At the end of the year I add them all up before I file taxes.

I like my American Express card because it gives me an annual summary by category. It's interesting to see how much I spent on books, or in the supermarket, or at gas stations. It doesn't help much with the monthly stuff, but that annual jolt keeps me in line for a month or two at the beginning of the year.
