I agree with you, Neol. One must be positive in thinking other ways to solve this kind of problem. Take step one at a time and decide what is rightfully right before messing all up. Don't pay debt by making another debt.
Bankruptcy is not always the worst thing, it is just the last resort. It will affect your credit rating for a long time, so you need to consider that. One step before that is a debt settlement advisor. Look at some of the tips in the debt settlement thread, there are some great tips. Good luck, and I am so sorry you are going through this.
I would have to agree with this. When my mom decided to gave up her 15 year old business she was devastated that she needs to file bankruptcy after all her efforts to save the business. However, with this solution my mom was able to breath easily and stop worrying about all the troubles that the business went through. I know people would understand the situation. Thats how life works we have to accept our failures and move on.

The worst thing that can happen is if you cannot move on with your situation. We should still be positive that we could rise from it. Bankruptcy is never the end it can be a start of a new living.

There are lots of advantage in filing bankruptcy. One of them is that the creditor will stop calling you all day and night because you are protected under bankruptcy law.

If creditors are harrassing you, you can stop that. A free debt counselor should be able to tell you what to do. They aren't allowed to call you late at night or very early in the morning, and I don't think they can call you at work. Keep a log. Write down every call, the date and time, where you were when you received the call, what debt it was for, the name of the company that called, and the name of the person that called if they'll give it to you. Note any threats and any swearing or other bad language.

chum112 , its not always that the whole family commits suicide. i guess only the bread earner commits this crime and that too under lot of depression. just think about the family, the sole bread earner committed suicide, and now the family will be harrassed for no reason.

Some people have mental issues that cause them to get in debt. If there was no way out, they could destoy themselves. Bankruptcy can be a godsend.
