Re-gifting once looked at as being cheap is now all the rage.  At work, we even have re-gifting parties where everyone brings in items they have received and don't use and we swap them with each other.  It's a great way to get something you really want or want to give to someone else.

I've already done that, but it's our secret.

I can never do that, because the gift is given with warmth and emotion. I feel it is not to be given away. I once got 3 clocks and dint know what to do with them, finally kept one in each room..

For goodness sake, NO,   I will never recycle gifts given to me.  They have sentimental value that I cherish most.  I will select my gifts even though cheap it may be but it is the thought that counts.

I also do that especially if I don't like the gift or never use it. Someone else might like it if you are going to wrap it up and give it to someone else!

I have not done this, in my opinion I don't think its appropriate.. even if I wont ever use the stuff I would just keep it as a souvenir.. :)

I think, I'm not going to recycled gift. It have sentimental value for me, maybe if I'm desperately need money, but I will never recycle my hubby, family and close friend gift.

I agree with inai's post. You shouldn't give someone what somebody else gave you. It's very rude. It's the thought that really counts. It's like they shared to you a part of them through that gift. Whether you like it or not, you should still value it, 'coz it's an indication that you still matter to the gift giver. Giving it away to somebody else just because you don't like it is the same with ignoring the gift and the giver. Moreover, it's unfair for the other who spend to give good gifts. They had this effort to give for a certain amount, while you depend on someone else's.
