They should be taught to be self-dependent as early as possible. SO I do support this notion.

i sure would.working part-time while studying let them know a lot of things.-how your parents feel while working and paying for your education-how to manage your time juggling between work and studies-gain more exposure to the working world-gain new skills and knowledge-instill in them a sense of responsibility and independence-a sense of working and knowing how to spend your own money you work so hard for

I am not a parent yet, but I hope that when I am I will be able to fund my child through college. I will want to persuade my child to get a job though, I hate to see how relient kids can be on their parents who help them through school. It makes them not understand the value of working. I know a lot of friends who have only had a job or two in thier lives and they think that they are doing well because they are still in school. But the sad realization is if you are in your 20s and you have only had one or two jobs for small increments of time, you are going to have a very hard time finding a job after college, no matter what you have studied for. At the very least, kids in college should pick up an internship, or volunteer. People don't understand that in this world it really is WHO you know, and not what you know. I have a lot of experience with working, and I have never been to college. I make 14 an hour. A friend of mine has been in college 4 years and she only makes 8.50 an hour.

Yes i would advise my children to work part time during their holidays. In fact my son did worked for a computer outlet and gained in knowledge too besides making some pocket money..

My children are still young, but the will have part time jobs through college. I want them to learn some responsibility.

Well, it really depends.. if i have the resources then i guess i won't allow my child to work while studying because i want him/her to focus on her studies..

Yes!  I do believe that my children should be self sufficient and "pay their own way through college."  I would not mind helping my children out if I had the means to do so, but this would only be done once my savings, retirement, home, etc...are all in place.  I have to pay my college loans, they will have to pay theirs!
