Before actually signing someone up to be your new debt counselor, be sure to ask the following questions.
What are the exact services that you offer?
Are you licensed to offer your services in my state?
What are your qualifications? Did you get your certificate from an accredited school or an outside organization? If neither, how are you trained?
Have your previous clients been satisfied with the services that you provided them?
What are your fees? Are they monthly, set up, etc.?
How are your employees paid? If I sign up for certain services, pay a fee, or make a contribution to your organization, are the employees or the organization paid more?
What do you do to keep your clients personal information, such as address, phone number, etc., confidential and secure?

For me, this is important question i will ask to them. Another question, i will ask him to show some proof and want to see any client who already satisfied with his service. Maybe that can be my guidelines to use debt counselors. If not, better i never waste my time and money for them.
