Is it an advantage on your part getting those debt counseling plans? What are the possible percentage that may reduce your total debts?

I went to one, and realized I could do most of the things she advised myself. Sometimes though, the counselor can get better deals for you from the credit card companies. They give advice on how to save money, too. One thing I got was the name of an agency that would give you a basket of food every week in exchange for a certain number of voluteer hours. You could pick your own charity, and bring in a slip saying you spent three hours a week teaching English to immigrants or something, and get a basket of food that was nearly enough to feed a single person for a week.
