You know, this post is so old - and yet no one has responded. My guess is that most people are completely oblivious to how much they really owe and they like it that way. Ignorance is bliss, right? It's a shame more people won't face up to the facts so they can work a way out of it all.

I do this often.  I have a spreadsheet that update each month, and help track my percentages and so forth.  I'll be posting this on my blog soon.

I'm so not sure its that people are looking to be ignorant of the debt that have and are looking for bliss by ignoring it.  What I think is more likely to be the case is that people in debt, are those that are unable to fight their way out of it and therefore don't want to crunch the numbers to have them staring in their face.  It might be a good idea so they don't accumulate more debt, but its not so muchthat people in debt don't want to acknowledge it, thought that is certainly true, but they don't know how to fix it, and as you know, minimum payments are often not enough to dent those real debts.

Lucky for me I don't need to put it down as my debt is not much. Other than my credit card and mortgage, I almost have next to nothing in debt. That is why it is important to exercise  self restrain when  you go shopping.  You would n't  know realise how easy to buy things with the plastic card that you have until you get the statement. At that time, you will try to avoid putting it down on anything as you realize that you don't have the resurces to pay it off.

I have far more debt than I'd like, but I'm in the process of dealing with it. My credit cards are under control now, my mortgage is low enough to live with and I finally have some savings (not much, but it's a start). I've made an appointment to see a financial planner next week and I've started working again. I regret not saving more when I had a job earlier this year. Any money I earn from working will be used sensibly this time - no more little things as rewards for being a clever working lady! I don't regret the black shoes I bought though - so versatile, sot smart and so comfortable!

I update my debt list once and awhile and my debts is 200 thousand in our money. Sometimes I get tempted not to compute as one says here that ignorance is a bliss but knowing the real amount will keep you focus to your goal of getting out of debts fast.
