In the world of credit cards, credit debt is all too common. Debt from credit cards can be very stressful, and lead to a very crippling situation. No one is immune to credit card debt, as even students can experience debt with their credit cards as well. With people using their credit cards more these days, more and more people continue to take the plunge into debt. Debt is never good, as it leads to bankruptcy and the destruction of your credit report.

Even though getting in credit card debt is simple to do, getting out of it is something that takes a lot of work. Even if you go to an agency or company that specializes in helping people out of debt, it won?t happen overnight. To get out of debt, it will take you quite a bit of time and effort as you get the debt under control and begin the long process of rebuilding your credit.

If you have other credit cards that you don?t use, such as store credit cards that are known for high interest rates, you should dispose of them. If you have a lot of open accounts, you should look into debt consolidation, which will combine all of your debts into one payment so you can get them out of the way quicker. By using debt consolidation services, you will only have one bill to pay.

If you only pay the minimum amount, you could very well end up being in debt the rest of your life - as you could be paying nothing but the interest. Every month, you should strive to pay the minimum amount and then some. Paying more than the minimum amount will also help to pay offer your credit card bill faster as well.

No matter how much credit card debt you are in, you can always find debt management services and agencies that will help you fight back. Absolutely right, to create a debt is very simple and can be done within few days. But to settle off the debt is very complicated, took us a long period maybe till more than a decade. For the credit card users, at the beginning there shouldn't be a big trouble to pay off on time. When getting at the peak time to use extra money, then the problem come because of unable to make the payment with the minimum amount. The accumulate amount will getting higher on the next payment due. This is how the credit card debt started. The best way is try to use cash and purchase only on the important stuffs.

Very good post--Most people know cc debt is bad, but it's so hard to color within the lines sometimes.  I consider myself well-educated on unsecured debt, yet I still have plent of my own. It haunts me actually. If I hadn't racked up the cc bills, I think it wouldn't be so hard right now to live within my own means..

Or...........you can just declare bankruptcy and be done with it........sinister smile. I mean really, once you are in bad shape what is ones motivation other than trivial things like pride and honor ? The creditors really have no shame in their game..........ughhhhhhhh pride and honor........sheesh

I would like to invite people to look at how I manage my credit card debt as I have been in deep water before in clearing off the outstanding payment.I really don't want to receive those pushy bank calls again.

After cancelling all my other credit cards, I am left with one card only. This credit card is being used for my groceries as well as big ticket purchases.  I will clear off the balance every month, so in actual sense the bank won't earn any interest from me. This means that before I do any purchases, I will figure out in my head whether I am able to pay for it at the end of the month. If I cannot do so, no matter how much I like to possess the thing that I wish to get, I will stop myself from buying it. Yup, it takes a lot of self control and discipline, but if you are bitten once, you will know the pain it incurred.

I wish I learned my lessons about credit cards earlier. But, after paying off a mountain of debt I have learned the error of my ways!

People tend to forget that credit cards isn't free money. You can't spend what you don't have. I have always told my friends that when it comes to credit cards, you shoul donly use in time of need. If you don't have the cash but you have it reserved then use your card. If you don't have the reserved money then guess what don't use your card.

Yep, it does take pain to learn the lessons. Logic and habit are two different things. One tells you not  to do all those stupid things in overusing your card while the others  say it is safe to do so as you will be able to pay it when the statement come.
