It depends on your location. Here in the Philippines, we have sulit, bidshot etc. You can also create a multiply account and start from there. Post your URL in different forums and join other multiply sites.

I started selling online since i discover sulit.com it's a free site where you can promote your business or any thing that you want to sell online either, clothes, shoes, books, furnitures accessories, real state  etc.anything you want to advertise, so i am happy learning about this site and thankful that to this site i earn money from selling my extra stuff.

I just recently started venturing into online selling and i started  it through selling it on a advertising forum which is free. I started first selling pre-love items and recently i am building my online store at multiply site. I am still on my way to familiarize things so hopefully if i finally finish my online store at multiply then i could sell anything there.

Have a multiply or an ebay account. Then you can have your site link as your signature or you can invite friends..

I think eBay is a good place to start selling online. I've also seen some small and start-up businesses opening their online stores using Multiply.com. But of course, like in any business, you should have the passion to run your online business and the products you carry would interest a lot of people.
