I know this is the greatest question what is for dinner? I would like to hear from others about cheap meal ideas that your family enjoys but does not break the bank so to speak. I look foward to hearing eveyones ideas about meals that you cook to save money or meals you made up that helped you get through if you are at the end of your money. Thanks for any feedback.

Pasta.  It's cheap and easy to make and pasta sauce and pasta noodles are usually on sale at grocery stores.

I've visited several online frugal communites where I've been able to get some great recipes which are low cost as well as nutritious.  Just google frugal forums and you can find some great places with great tips.

save scraps of vegetables that you don't use in salads or side dishes. Freeze the scraps in tupperware. When you have a large amount of scraps, use them to make a broth for a soup!

I like the idea about the veggie soup. I have never done that before I know my kids are picky eaters but I might enjoy something like that. I made a really tastie soup with potatoes and sour cream and these cheese soup boy that was awesome and it did not cost a whole lot either.

A favorite with my kids is chicken and rice.  You can make up rice and add some chicken seasoning to it and mix in chunks of leftover chicken.  They also enjoy sausage & potatoes - slice leftover boiled potatoes and left over meat (roast, brats, sausage, etc.) and fry them in a pan together.  The possibilities are endless if you have an imagination and the desire to try.
