Personally, the best way to save is by conserving. I try to conserve as much power in my house as I can. I have instituted a "candle light dinner" policy at my home. Each day when we eat dinner, my boyfriend and I always will turn off the lights and have a romantic dinner, while saving on the electric bill, too. I save every little scrap I can, and I recycle everything. When I use vegetables, I save the pieces that we don't eat, and I freeze them. After a while, I have a tupperware container full of bits and pieces that I later use to make a broth for a soup. Instead of buying juices, I always buy koolaid. It is very cheap. Every once in a while I will get sick of the sugary stuff, so it is not a big deal to buy an orange juice here and there. I also make a lot of iced tea and lemonade, which is very cheap. How do you save money each week?

A lot of my money goes to buying fast food so I usually try to limit the spending I do on fast food and try to eat at home more.

I like the idea of the candlelight dinner! I think I'm going to try it this weekend and enjoy a nice meal with my family.  Thanks for the tip.

i suggest unplugging appliances when not in use. you'd be surprised at how much it can lower down your electricity bill.

I also save all of my scraps for soups and stews.  I also save bits and pieces of mushrooms, green pepper, ham etc in a separate container in my freezer  to make omelets.  Eggs are very cheap and filling especially when you have a lot of good ingredients to add.

I love your idea of having a candlelight dinner.  What an original idea and a romantic one at that.  I will definitely implement that at least once a week into our nightly routine.  I don't think the kids would be so keen on having romantic candlelight dinners.  I do know that I would like to invest in a kerosene lantern as I think that would be a wise investment and they do give off a lot of light.

My fiance and are saving for his parents in the way save. Of course we save for ourselves monetarily, but for his parents we've...1. Got in the habit of turning off lights or not using them unless absolutely needed. It saves electricity and the environment! Of course we're mindful of straining on eyes so if it's going to strain our eyes we turn on the light.2. Using kool aid instead of soft drinks. There are other things I'd like to do to save but it's really his parents perogative there, when my fiance and I get our own place, we will be implenting these (other)  ways to save.

My opinion is that the best way to save is to know how to differentiate between your needs and wants.Basically needs are basic necessities which you need to have in order to survive like food, water, shelter etc.Wants refers to items which are mandatory like the latest gadgets or clothes or accessories.Furthermore, if you know how to do a financial planning of your budget, you are on the right track!
