My mother recently bought her first home a year and a half ago. My father has since not been able to get any work. Her hours at work had been cut and she is facing forclosure on her home as of june. I hate to see her lose her home and I want to do everything in my power to prevent her from having to lose her home. I don't know what I will do if I hear something so sad, because my mother works her hardest. She has been looking for part time jobs day in and day out and hasn't been able to find anything. The state will not grant her food stamps, either. She has 80 dollars to spend per month after she makes her mortgage payments, and that does not include gas to get her to work, or food. Never mind the electric bill and what not. My mother is on the line of poverty, and I feel like it is partially my fault because I have had to borrow money from her before. I don't know what to do. The guilt is ripping me apart. someone, PLEASE HELP

Is refinancing a possibility?  With the same company or possibly another company?  It's a hard place to be in, that is true.  I speak from personal knowledge here.  Can she get help with electric and heat?  Hopefully, you can brainstorm some ideas with your Mother and help her with her situation.

How about an auction or an estate sale?  Surely she has some things around the house that she can sell to help keep afloat for another month?

Can't she not sell the house before the foreclosure.  If she sell it she might be able to get some money out of it after settling her dues with the bank.  She can rent a smaller house while hunting for a house or you can negotiate with the bank and refinance it under your name.  Since you are young you can get longer terms of loan which will have a smaller monthly repayment.

The point here is to help her stay in the house and negotiate with the bank for an affordable morgage rate.
