What do you think is the best way to start building up a credit score on the basis that you're just beginning to try. Just curious!Feel free to list why you think it's the best way, thanks!

I think it this might be an idea. If you cannot get approved for a normal credit card than try a prepaid that reports to the credit bureau that way you can establish some credit that way. This is one way to start getting a paper trail going and to start seeing people giving you a chance to get some credit going. Also try some stores that offer credit as well but be careful to not spend all the limit, only use what you can pay off in a month and this will help you start a credit history as well. Take care and I hope this helps.

1. Obtain a secured credit card. You are borrowing against your own money, but you still have to pay on time and in full. 2. Always pay on time or even a few days early. Contrary to popular belief, even if your payment is one day late, it could count against you, so make every effort to pay on time. 3. Avoid "Rent A Center" they do not report to credit agencies.

The best way to start building up a credit score actually depends on the age group you fall into. The best way for a beginning college student around the age of 18 to get a good credit score is to have a joint credit card account with one of his or her parents. Another way is to apply for a student credit card which has a low credit limit to begin with about...$500 maybe $1000 depending on the bank. With a student credit card you are limited and reduces the risk of overspending. Make sure that you pay your credit card bill on time and it would be even better to only buy what you can afford. It is better than paying off the minimum and accruing interest.

It is really good to know that rent a center does not help your credit! I need a bed soon, and I have been weighing out my options. I have terrible credit, even though I have never had a credit card or a loan out. I hope that one day I can build enough credit to buy a home - but that isnt looking too great right now.

I think it will start everything by paying on time.
