These two money saving tips have worked for me. During the hottest part of the year, we get high temperatures, sometimes over 90 degrees. And that's unbearable. During those times, there's lots of air conditioner use. And, our bill is often very high. So during the rest of the year, when temperatures are only 80 degrees or so, we save money by using these ideas. 1. Unplug your water heater. Our water heater is located in the laundry room and can be unplugged from the wall.Unplugging the water heater every day until needed, saves at least $30 monthly. This will discourage hot water use. The water heater can be plugged up before bath time or running the dishwasher. We use this idea all year round for big money savings. 2, Take a shower before turning on the air conditioner. In the summer time, it's easy to cool off in front of the air conditioner, but also expensive. Whenever you feel hot, take a cool shower instead. This will help you feel cool and refreshed. And, you might not even feel the need for the air conditioner. Afterwards, you may find that simply turning on a fan is sufficient. How do you save money on your electricity bill monthly? Do you have any frugal tips for surviving summer time without spending lots of money on electricity?

Thanks for those great ideas! I hadn't considered using those type of light bulbs. But a friend of mine swears by them saying she saves big money monthly. So maybe I should give them a try soon.

I unplug things i dont use because even when they are off they still draw a tiny bit of power all the time.

Thank you for these great tips. The only way my fiancee and I focus on saving electricity is by not using the air or heat unless we absolutely have to!

Thank you for sharing. What you shared are common sense savings tips that each of us should do. Also add using CFL lamps, they use less energy. And like unplugging the shower heater, also unplugged any appliances when not in use, except of course refrigerator.

I like saving money on electricity all year round but best thing about the summer time is that there is more light so we do not have to switch the lights on as much. Here in the UK we do not use as much electricity in the summer as normally we have no need for air conditioners
