Yes, though it is up to each individual creditor/collection agency.  I worked at an agency and some original creditors would not settle for less, others would give a 30% discount.

It depends on how the bank like to work it out with you. I think there are certain arrangement the bank would be able to make as they do not want to lose the whole sum, anyway with the $300, they would have made a tidy interest on your principle amount already.

Like what the rest of the posts mentioned , i believe it has to depends on the credit card company that you commit.I have heard of such cases to. You might want to check it out with them.

oh, I see what you mean. But I have never owed money to any bank even once. A discount is a considerable offer for debtors.
