Recently, we were hit with a job loss.  And, I'm worried that our savings will run out before we can get new and better paying jobs or any job at all. Do you have any tips for surviving job loss?

Going through a job loss is probably one of the hardest things to deal with, especially in these times. If you use myspace, post a bulletin saying that you are in need of a job and ask friends for help. If there are any services you do, list them and offer to do them for pretty cheap.Next, make a resume and head onto craigslist.com and submit the resume anywhere you can. If you look in thier gigs section you can find small jobs to do that may only take an hour or two, like shoveling a driveway, or cleaning out a garage.Next, you need to take a walk (or a drive, if applicable) and apply absolutely anywhere you can. When you apply, ask to speak to a manager. Bring copies of your resume with you. After you have done all that work, sit down and see what things you can cut down on. I have posted multiple blog entries about saving money and going green, so you might want to check out some of my money making tips. Keep applying everywhere. While youre jobless, I would suggest trying to utilize the internet as much as you can to earn some extra cash. Like on here, or on mylot (message me if you need a referral link) or plenty of other sites. If you want a list of sites, I have external blog that I can link you to, which lists what sites to trust and which are scams. It could be a great resource for you while you are looking to find a job.Good luck, and stay in touch!

I recently lost my  job (December). QUITE LUCKILY, I had planned to start school in January so my boyfriend moved in with me and started paying the majority of my rent (still cheaper for him than having his own place). I am now receiving unemployment but I am also worried that will run out before I can find a job now that I am in school and only available night and weekend hours (all those jobs are already taken by other students). Not to mention my boyfriend is moving cross-country in a few months so I will have to find a new roommate if I don't want to lose my house. I am planning on taking out another loan this summer since I am attending school over the summer. However I am taking out the same amount as this semester but enrolling in less classes and buying less supplies (this semester I had to buy a laptop) so it will leave me with some leftover money to put towards necessities. In the future I  am hoping once my GPA is better I can qualify for grants or scholarships and if I take out a student loan it will be for living expenses only, but hopefully I will have a job and won't have to do that.

Best wishes to you Katia on your situation. I'm sure you'll find someone else as a roommate. And, to everyone else, thanks for those fantastic tips. I had not thought about using MySpace or Craigs list to find a part time job or networking. Thanks again!

If only such things were within our control! In this time of recession and job market uncertainty, I'm thankful that I didn't invest into real estate and get a mortgage.

Thanks for those suggestions. Already I've started cutting down on expenses and not making more than two trips to the store monthly that way money can't be spent. Plus, I'm trying to find and plug all the money leaks and hidden charges that might still be costing me money or draining savings. As for the suggestion about making money online, I've started doing that too. Already, I'm building my traffic on my free movies blog and have ad revenue up to $2.00 daily. Of course, I'll need much more income than that to pay bills. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

look for another job again thru classified ads and the internet, look for online jobs too, cut down use of electricity, set a budget for your groceries, a garage sale will also give you extra money...

Good advice! Don't put all your eggs into one basket as the old sage goes.  During job loss, it's harder to reduce debt or get rid of credit cards.  There is always the temptation to spend the cards on essentials like food.
