Those people can be really mean sometimes.  But your advice is good. They will bully until you pay cause it's in their best interest to do so!

I think it's better not to deal with collectors over the phone, simply because they tend to lie and threaten to get what they want. They'll even impersonate law enforcement if it gets them what they want. It's best to deal with them in writing, that way your rights are preserved, you can request that  no phone calls should be made to your place of business, you can send cease and desist certified letters to stop them from abusing the FDCPA statute, etc, and you can send them settlement offers (certified mail return receipt) through the Post Office stating that if they agree to your terms or wish to make a counteroffer, to respond back only in writing.
