Today I was reading an article in Redbook about reducing debt. And, one woman mentioned that she freezes her credit cards so that she doesn't have easy access. Yes! She used real ice. I don't think that I'd ever do that. But I would put my credit cards away in a closet somewhere so that I didn't see them on a daily basis and wouldn't be tempted to spend money on the cards. Out of sight. Out of mind. Would you ever freeze your credit cards in ice? What's the silliest thing you've ever done to keep yourself from spending money on your credit cards?Did it help reduce your spending?

That's what I thought! Who does that, right? It's not a realistic option. I think the woman was hedging her bets just in case she needed the credit card for emergencies. But realistically, a back up fund of actual money is much more reliable than counting on the flaky credit card companies that are likely to spike interest rates for no reason at all.

I haven't tried freezing my credit cards because it may destroy the mag stripe. But I tried keeping it to the inner part of my closet and hoping that I will forget their exact locations. And I'm glad I did.....

I 'misplace' my debit card on top of my computer under a stack of papers so that I have to hunt around to find it when I want to spend money. I have to be careful not to put on HSN on TV or I try to spend. I don't need to be spending money! LOL!
