Expecting A BABY?

If you are expecting a baby, why not utilize the internet to stretch the dollars.  You can go to most of the websites for the items you might use and sign up for some great coupons and free samples.   I have recieved free samples and coupons from companies for products like huggies, pampers, johnson & johnson, similac, etc.  The makers of similac actually sent me a nice welcome package with coupons and cans of formula.  Enfamil also sent me a diaper bag, coupons and cans of formula.  Save the free samples to carry in the diaper bag - small and convenient while saving you some money. WIC is also a great place to turn for help but you have to meet their income guidelines - http://www.fns.usda.gov/wic/ Cloth diapers have come a long way!  I have heard of quite a few people going with cloth diapers now as many places are carrying them.  They say you can purchase them rather cheap and it saves alot of money. Feel free to add your ways of saving!

I second the vote on WIC.  It is one of the best government programs developed.  Also, make sure to contact the local Welcome Wagon when you either move into a new home or welcome home your new bundle of joy.

Oh yes, an after thought here...If you like the idea..breastfeeding is best for your little one, and you will save literally hundreds of dollars by doing so. Also, I agree on the cloth diapers.  With baby #4, I solely used cloth diapers and saved a bundle.  A great magazine to invest in, if it is still available is called Mothering, and you should be able to find several diapering companies as well as cloth diapers through them.  This magazine focuses on living green, and you might even enjoy the articles.

A SAHM I know lets her baby go diaperless- when she sees him making his "gotta go" face, she rushes him to the bathroom and puts him on the toilet or over the tub. This way he is also learning that the bathroom is where he needs to go potty even though he is still very young, and she is saving money not having to wash cloth diapers. The only time they use diapers is when traveling. If she is cooking or cleaning she puts him on a waterproof blanket (soft on top, vinyl on the bottom) to play. But this only works because she is a SAHM and is able to have an eye on him all the time.

I used cloth diapers for the first year and it was backbreaking work trying to get them cleaned. But, since I was a stay at home mom, the money saved was worthwhile. Once we started using regular diapers, our cost went up to $90 monthly!

Well if you have kids or expecting, you can register in many sites like Toysrus' Birthday club, The children's place, and most of children's stores. They usually send you a gift card worth $5 - $8 every year for each child.
