OFFICALLY DEBT FREE TODAY!! (HOW I DID IT)

Well today is the day I finally paid off all the remaining debt I owed. And what a relief! About 2 years ago I was about $25,000 in debt. This is what I did:- Ditch the car and get a motorcycle: No joke! Really... With a car I would spend $150-200 a month on gas but with a motorcycle I would spend $15-20 a month. You save about $2,000 a year by doing this. (keep it for a few years and the bike pays for itself)- Cut up my credit cards: SOOOOOO HARD TO DO!!! But it was necessary - after I did that my credit card debt went down drastically! If you don't have it don't spend it!- Budget Yourself: You need a budget that will help you get out of debt. That means cutting back on how much you can spend per month at Starbucks and for Entertainment. Want to get shocked? Add up all the receipts of somewhere you frequently go 3-4 times a week. Add up what you spend there in a month. My girlfriend was shocked to find out that she was spending $200 a month alone on Starbucks coffee.- Learn eBay!: - Trust me on this! In over 2 years of eBaying I made over $14,000 - anyone will buy anything! It's easy to learn and a great tool to getting out of debt.- Any side hobbies?: Art, Pottery, Photography - if your good and creative at something you can sell stuff like this too for some side income. I do photography on the side so that is an extra 2-3,000 a year for doing small events here and there. My mother sells her pottery online at (ETSY.com) Also check out Craigslist to post your services. It's all free and you can use your creativity in what you already enjoy doing to make extra income.- Recycle: Sounds silly but ask neighbors, friends and coworkers to save there recyclables for you. This will bring in about 25-50 bucks a month. Humbling at first but soooo worth it!- Ride a bike to work: I started doing this to save the $15-20 bucks a month on gas. Now if you have a long commute this won't be possible. After I did this for 2 months I decided to sell my motorcycle (that sold today) and that paid off the rest of my debt with an extra $2,000 left over. Yahoo! It feels so great to finally be out of debt. It was hard, humbling, tiring process. But it finally "paid off!" hahaIf anyone has any more tips they would like to post - PLEAE DO! Take care everyone and God bless!

Congratulations on becoming debt free. I am counting the days until that will happen for me. I have some items that I want to sell on ebay, but I'm so leery of actually doing it. Sometimes I think it is all very confusing. You really have some great ideas here. I like the recycling idea, and now that summer is quickly approaching I am hoping to recycle some aluminum. It takes awhile to add up, but it is definitely a little something that I can throw at my debt. Thank you for all the wonderful suggestions.

Firstly congratulations on getting out of debt. You made a plan on how to cut debt out of your life and you stuck to it and were rewarded. Getting rid of credit cards is a big thing amd I am glad you cut yours up, this is such a hard thing to do as there are just so may temptations out there. Other ways you could save are by cutting down on electricity use, and saving on your mobile phone bill by calling and texting less.

Wow what an achievement. I'm ahead of getting credit cards, and I hope to never get one, although I don't see that being possible. If I do get a credit card it will never go on luxuries.. I hope.Well done you're an inspiration, a lot of people find it impossible to cut back.

Your success story has provided real encouragement for me. Thanks for sharing. I am going to give Ebay a try and some other online ventures that I have been postponing. As they say, time is the killer, so there's no time to waste. Best of luck with your future plans.
