I have heard alot of news coverage on CHIP cards and how it will better protect Credit Card Fraud. I know this is a major initiative in Canada but not in the US. Why is that?

Great concept. The problem with the US is that we are major denial of anything positive. The economy is so horrible, that they cannot see solutions, just bandages.

Well, not to get in a 'we are' war... but, I hate debit cards because I have to put in my PIN. I use credit cards for the convenience of the 'get in, get out' way to pay. The U.S. even passed a law that states if the total is under $25, a signature isn't required! If you use a credit card, just make sure it is one that has the 'zero liability' if charges appear that you can prove you did not make... like when I was charged for placing an ad in an Arizona newspaper. Pretty easy to prove it wasn't me.

The intersting part about the new Chip cards is that the Credit Cards will require a PIN, like the debit cards. Not sure if they will be able to bypass that for smaller transactions though (<25$)? Maybe buyer-convenience is the reason Chip cards aren't as popular a concept in the US? With zero liability cards the anti-fraud sales feature is less attractive.
