Surveys in the USA from 2003 to 2006 showed a decrease in the total number of victims and a decrease in the total value of identity fraud from US$47.6 billion in 2003 to $15.6 billion in 2006. The average fraud per person decreased from $4,789 in 2003 to $1,882 in 2006.

Thanks for the info, but do you really thing that you are less likely to have your identity stolen? Do you honestly believe that in this recession thieves are easing up on stealing people's identities? Is this you way to show facts to justify you not getting any protection? It is fine whatever you think. I hope you and your family are protected because I know how terrible of a crime identity theft can be first hand. So i give you my best of wishes. With people losing jobs left and right, their has definitely been an increase in theft and other crimes in our area. You can never be to safe. Take all necessary precautions to protect yourself and your family.

if the number is reducing it does not mean that you are safe you still have to take steps to save yourself from fraud
