McCain has said he is stopping the campaign to help with the bailout issue in Congress. He is going to head back to Washington and do his job as a Senator.Obama has not fololowed suit- he will help if they think it will be useful.  Our economy is in trouble- which means more debt for us all- Who is going to help?

It's hard to tell if it's because he really thinks he's needed or it's just a political move.  I don't know.My thoughts are instead of buying up the bad mortgages, use that same 1 trillion dollars to give every mortgage holder in the US $10,000 (or whatever it ends up being) to pay down their mortgage.  It gives the exact same influx of cash to the mortgage lenders, helping to resolve that problem, while helping millions of Americans get out of debt.  That $10,000 can save the average family 20-50k or more over the course of their mortgage.

That is a wonderful idea-- however I'm sure it would never fly.  I know I'd love to knock off $10K off  my mortgage.  It would give some people the wiggle room they need to get back on their feet- and others a great head start in paying back quicker.   I think that McCain is doing this because it's his job!

I think that McCain's proposal was a grand stand geared toward making Obama seem less competent and less caring.Luckily, it didn't work.  McCain blinked and still showed up for the debates, where Obama came off as more trustworthy with the economy.

I don't agree with that at all.  I think McCain had better things to say about the economy.  Several times when the question was asked- what would you change in the government and not spend the money on- Obama listed the things he would spend the money on. How is that for an answer. I'm not impressed with Obama at all.

McCain is at a loss about this situation and everyone knows it.

Its hard to tell.Mc Cain is going to spend money on other non essential stuffs like war when he becomes president, when compared with Obama. But its just a prediction, sometimes predictions can be wrong.
