Do you think its smart to pay your taxes alone or put them in your mortgage?  I have mine in my mortgage. This way it's paid for and it's not another bill I see. What do you all do?

I pay my RE taxes. That way I know it is done and done in the correct amount. Also, the mtg co doesn't have my money sitting and earning them interest. Plus, if they forget to send in the payment or miss the due date, you are still held liable for any and all penalties that occur. I've seen it happen too often to know that it happens more often than it should.

I never thought of the mortgage co. earning interest from my money.  That is definitely something to remember when I am able to purchase a house in the future.
