I've always been curious to see what other people do.  How many credit cards do you have?  Major credit cards- not store credit cards.I have just 1.I use it for emergencies- I charged a bit too much last year and almost have it paid off.How many do you have?

I have 2. One for emergency. I think having two credit cards is enough.

I do not have any credit cards.  I had three, a target card, a Lowe's card (washer and dryer are essentials unless you want to go to the laundry mat three times a week), and a Capital One Card.  I no longer have any of these cards.  I got in over my head, and decided to cut them up myself. I started an emergency fund, and when a need arises, there will be something in the bank for me to draw on.  Thank goodness it is FDIC insured; however, in this economy is that really safe?

Between my husband and I we have 4, but 2 are paid off, and we plan to close them now. We will each keep one open for emergencies only now.

I have 3 credit cards. 2 I use on a regular basis and 1 I keep in case of emergencies.

Wow I really wonder why some folks need so many cards. I actually reviewed various cards, compared them and then chose the 3 that suit my requirements.

I have one major CC that I use on a regular basis when needed. Then I also have another one for back up. The rest I have are store credit cards and I regret opening them.

I have one. I'm 21. and it's really hard for me to pay it off. I over-charged it. It was supposed to be for emergencies, just to get my credit score up....or to establish credit since I was young. But my wife and I got in a hard spot, and ended up having to use it to survive!

The point of getting out of debt is to stop using credit cards and start cleaning up debt. Right now, I don't have any active credit cards. None are in use. And, while some people say that's a bad idea, I don't really see how it could be smarter for me to use my credit cards and get into more debt when I can't afford to repay additional debt. I'm managing well enough on a cash only system (using my prepaid debit card and checks funded by real income and not borrowed credit card money which is basically a loan). That's working for me.

I only have one...It was pre-approved and was sent to my workplace. My mom told me to just have one since we were going on a vacation at that time... and that was the start of my debt problems! :(
