I have been sued by a collection agency, and I requested from them to send me the proof of thier claim. In response they sent me a set of detailed questionaires (interrogatories) demanding me to answer them within a specific period otherwise a judgement may be filed against me without a trial... need help. What should i do?

First of all they can't get a judgment w/o a trial. Only a court can award a judgment. Don't answer the interrogatories since this is part of the discovery phase and not pre-trial phase. Second, put in a denial of debt. This will force them to prove their claim in open court. Third, don't admit to anything on paper now or during the hearing. They don't have to send you proof of their claim. That's what the suit is all about. If you put in the denial, that forces them to prove up. Hope this helps.
