What are the rules
What are the rules about debt collectors calling your home? What are the hours in which they can and can not call your home. I mean I know it's suppose to be before 9 p.m your time but I had a debt collector actually call my house at 9:30 and I was shocked.
They seem to have their own rules. When I was having problems with this my calls usually started at 8:00 am and ended at 8:00 p.m. A letter telling them not to call you usually does the trick. Learned that right here on this site. You can file a complaint against them, lots of info on this topic at this site.
The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act states you should only receive calls between 8am and 9pm so anything after that is not permitted. But like awsheet said you are legally able to send them a letter stating that you do not wish them to contact you any longer and they by law have to stop calling you.
9pm. That also happens to be what the featured story on the home page is currently about.

Does it matter if they call half an hour pass the permitted time? If they don't get you by today, they will surely catch hold of you tomorrow or the day after next. You can't escape indefinitely from them. What you have to do is come out with a way to settle the debts once and for all.
