A friend of mine sent me the following story. It tells you exactly how the system works. Enjoy!
Three contractors are bidding to fix a broken fence at the White House in
D.C. - One from New Jersey, another from Tennessee and the third, Florida.
They go with a government official to examine the fence.
The Florida contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring,
then works some figures with a pencil. "Well", he says, "I figure the job
will run about $900: $400 for materials, $400 for my crew and $100 profit
for me."
The Tennessee contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says,
"I can do this job for $700: $300 for materials, $300 for my crew and $100
profit for me."
The New Jersey contractor doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to the
White House Official and whispers, "$2,700"
The official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the other
guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?"
The New Jersey contractor whispers back , "$1000 for me, $1000 for you, and
we hire the guy from Tennessee to fix the fence."
"Done!", replies the government official.
And that, my friends, is how it all works.
And that is how it will continue to work until the collective masses get together and say no more instead of a few whining about what they want and don't have. The money wasted by politicians with special interests would more than pay for universal healthcare or other badly needed programs. 50.00 billed to insurance for a bandaid or a asprin at the hospital, 500.00 for an ashtray on a goverment aircraft etc. etc. etc. ridiculous. Then there is the waste on frivilous law suits allowed by prison inmates not to mention the absurd like allowing someone to sue McDonalds because she spilled hot coffee on her lap.........even worse........allowing her to win. Not just the goverment folks. People should be pissed but bottom line, the majority of Americans just don't care anymore as long as they got theirs. When they no longer have it then they will care...........then it will be too late.
I agree with you. That is how our goverment works, which is not fair but what can we the simple people do? Good story. Thanks for sharing.
I think a good start might be doing what Denmark ( I think) did several years back. They fired their entire congress ( or something like that). We have been made to believe we are helpless through expressions like being politically correct or calling anyone who defies the status quo an extremist etc. Bottom line examples...........let's say you are mad at the Disney company for having holdings in porn companies............if enough people boycott Disney and pinch them financially they will change. Same for oil, if enough people could get it together to say not by gas for two weeks in protest, our prices would come down. There is strength in numbers and goverment does sucumb eventually if people stand up and stick together in mass. We just don't have the stick to it anymore overall. Most people are too self absorbed in their own wants and needs to make any kind of a stand.
