In earlier posts there was alot of discussion on the topic of settling debt yourself as opposed to utilizing a debt settlement company. There was very little said about how one would initiate this process ? Or whether or not this process could be accomplished with a collection agency or only with the original creditor ? How likely are creditors to be open to negotiating with someone? Whenever I try to open a written dialogue with creditors or collectors I get no response at all. It would be nice to hear from some on this forum regarding their personal " how they did its".
