How to use Your IRS Rebate check... As you may have heard, each of us will be getting a tax rebate check to stimulate the economy. If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China. If we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs. If we purchase a computer it will go to India. If we buy fruits and veggies it will go to Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala. If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan. If we purchase useless stuff it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy. We need to keep that money in America. The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it at yard sales, since those are the only businesses still in the US! Note to people living in any of the above countries: The last sentence of this post isn't a joke but it is funny!

Sad but true for the most part. I used to try and track what was still made here just for fun. We still make vaccum cleaners and lawnmowers so feel safe there. Guns and weapons of mass destruction as well (chuckle). And most importantly................food.

sandalwood: Your post made me remember my trip to the US...I was shopping for some clothes and I noticed some American brands I was looking at were made in other countries..usually Asia....US depends on other countries for their products probably because it's cheaper that way. :)

You can keep the money in the US borders by buying from your neighbors. Buy a used car locally and the money goes to your neighbor. Buy used furniture from a second hand store and the money goes to support local charities and disadvantaged. Buying locally sometimes means buying used products that have been in the US for awhile so that the money doesn't leave our borders.
