Looking For A Home Business Or Home Employment
My wife and I are desperately looking for a way to make a liveable income online. I know there is a living in this little box in front of my face but as soon as you start the search you get slammed with hundreds of offerings and a whole lot of scams. Sure, we'd love to think you could really earn 1,000.00 to 5,000.00 per month in only 30 days ( laughing) but if we could just generate 1,500.00 to 2,000.00 per month we'd be happy. She has the education in computers and I have the imagination and personality. Anyone know of any LEGITIMATE income opportunities that don't cost an arm and a leg to get started ? I'd prefer to keep the few friends and family I have as well so let's skip the Amway type chase em around and wear em down type opportunities out of the running.
As soon as I find one I'll let you know. I'm looking for one myself but am getting discouraged by the scams. I'm not afraid of work or working hard. What I am afraid of is getting into something, investing the time and effort and have it end up like so many other online businesses advertised.
DITTO THAT, I do know that the internet is todays gold rush, it's just breaking in that is hard. You have to be able to stand out in the crowd and that is a huge crowd but I know it's doeable, the many online scams are disheartning for sure. I have found some businesses that are BBB accredited and have no complaints with the FTC but I really am reluctant to become one of these cult people who drive all of their family and friends nuts , remember Amway ? chuckle
The most money I've made online has been related to writing, but it's not enough to consider it my main source of income, at least at this point.
I've sold some articles and I've made a little from a site that shares ad revenue with people who submit articles.
I also have a free site or two with Adsense code on them, but that's going very slowly.
How long did it take you to at least establish a profit and some consistency ? What kind of writing works ?
I have an ebook I will give to anyone who requests it that is titled:
How to Earn a Full-time Income Through Freelance Writing It is a product of Earn1kaday.com by Dennis Becker who happens to be one of the greatest guys on the Internet today. He is a person of integrity and actually tries to help people instead of ripping them off.
I don't even have an affiliate link in the book so it comes w/o any strings attached at all. Please email me at:
foreclosure at reno dot com with Freelance Book in the subject and I will send it to you. Hopefully this will help those people who want to sell their writing. I can tell you from personal experience, and before I got the book, I was selling my writing online and making a tidy sum.
It can be done if you are persistent. If rejection bothers you, pick another endeavor as rejection is the mainstay of writing.
Here is an idea for those looking for a market. Do a search for writer's forums. Usually you will find a ton of posts looking for writers. On some forums the buyers are cheap and want your work for a penny per word. On others, the price is considerably higher. Pick and choose and as long as you can write, you will have assignments.
Don't worry too much about the quality as the Internet has changed, read lowered, the standards for what is considered quality. Actual print magazines want old fashioned quality. Web sites are looking for content. Big difference.
Happy writing and may all your assignments be four figures...

Yes, stick with online "freelance writer wanted" jobs because they can pay quite well if you are prolific. Granted, the pay is low but if you are prolific you can do welll
I make a full time living from writing online, including this site :)
I think just about anyone who can write simple sentences has the skills required to do it - the writing is not the challenging part, finding the people who pay for writers can be, though.
I tried several "home based businesses" before deciding I could turn writing into a business. I even tried the home parties and spending all day and night on the phone calling people who had no interest or desire to talk to me. I couldn't make those work, and I hated every second of it. I like to write, and I can easily say I love my job now - and the difference that alone has in my life is astounding.
I get asked pretty often how I do it, so not to sound like an "advertisement" here but I did set up a coaching program for people who want to get paid for writing online. the site is
www.makemoneyfromwriting.com you just introduce yourself on that first page, and then you'll get six steps that can get you your first few paid assignments and tips for making it into a long term business that makes you some money. How much you make as a writer depends on a lot of things- how fast you can write (you get faster with practice), your willingness to write on a bunch of topics, how much you charge or what you'll agree to write for.
I think many writers and work-at-home wanna be's undercharge themselves and therefore can't make a living off writing. While there are hundreds of sites willing to pay $5 a post, there are also hundreds of sites willing to pay $25 or $50 an article.
I've had no luck with adsense yet, but I do know several people who use it as their main source of income. Sites like this one offer revenue share- and after awhile they can add up but it's not an overnight success type thing, nor should you count on adsense income to pay the bills because from what I've seen it can fluctuate a lot.
Anyway- hope this has helped some of you.
Yes, thank you Debbie, I'll take a look.
