In need of Assistance: Young, Very Young, Mother
Hello Everyone, My name is Keira and recently I found out I am pregnant. The problem is I am new at this and completely lost as to how I become financially set. If someone could give my some budgeting tips, like how to budget, it would be deeply appreciated. I haven't the first clue as to what I am doing.
For starters, you may want to go to yahoo's finance center and msn's money center and click on any links dealing with budgeting and personal finances. The articles you will find at these sites are written by well known financial advisors.
You may also want to consider going to your local bank and/or credit union to get the free pamphlets they offer in this arena. Your local library has shelves full of books on the subject and it doesn't cost a dime to check them out.
Doing the above will keep you busy for a week or two plus give you a mini financial education.
Congratulations, ArtsyKR!
Sandalwood's suggestion reminded me of when we bought our first home. I read some books on the Canadian real estate market and mortgages that helped save us a lot of money.
Good luck with your research.
Thank you both very much and I will definitely look into these options. Luckily I have some money saved away I am just not sure where to go from here. It helps a lot having your advice.
Congratulations Keira. The trick is to always spend less than you're bringing into the house hold.
If you know you have bills coming up, keep the money aside. Don't buy impulse stuff. Shop carefully and don't be afraid to look around for better prices.
Learn to cook - you'll save heaps instead of buying take-out or worse - pre-packaged junk.
Don't pay your repayments or bills on credit. Save and pay the bill with cash if you can. You don't want to start a debt cycle so young.
