If consumers are wondering what The FTC and credit repair is about, basically it is a warning for consumers not to fall into the deceit of a lot of credit repair scam entities:
In this article, the FTC tackles fraud on the internet:The FTC charged five of the companies and their principal officers with making false claims about repairing consumers' credit records

Basically, for the consumer, the best way to repair the credit is to obtain a copy of his/her credit report from the three major credit reporting bureaus and look for errors. Once he/she finds one, request for it to be corrected, until it appears as such.
All the groups that promises to repair the consumers credit can do really is to give them advice as to what to do next. It is up to the consumer to pay his/her bills on time and obtain new credit/loans.

What about credit repair agencies? Do you guys think I should work with them?

Seeking help from a credit repair agency isn't really a very good idea. The FTC reports that it's best to do it yourself. It makes little sense to pay for services that you can actually do yourself. It will save you more money, and the process of learning how to assess your credit report may also arm you with knowledge on how the reporting process works.
