- The word retirement conjures a lot of negative feelings in people.  It seems like a very scary thing because people when they're old enough are no longer wanted in the job market.  Their marketability drops and so they are expected to have loads of money to fall back on.  Which is a tough expectation.  Considering the salaries that people are receiving today, I don't think one can look forward to retiring in style and comfort.  So it seems like the future is bleak for everyone.
