- Very useful and informative post. Thanks.
- Thank you for this post. It is a great article and I agree with everyone else. There are spams everywhere. Good post!
- When opportunity comes for these scam sites to operate, they also come on strong luring the already debt-strapped to bite their schemes. We have to be very careful that we do not add more problems to the problems we already have.
atheniankid
- Have you seen a rainbow? Because your article is very wonderful.. Nice post!

- I've had my spam email boxes filled with "Erase debt legally" etc, and these type of things look tempting but I know better then to trust them. Thanks for the better look on what these emails are all about, I wasn't aware that they took the debt collectors to court.
- thats good..
thanks for sharing..
varushar
- Very much true.. I have also received some mails saying that join this investment plan, you will get this much profit in 2-3 months and after the time period, no sign of that investment firm or plan.
sona
- Good writing. I am agree with your views. The debt solutions agencies are fooling us and the new other sites are coming with attractive ads and earning money for themselves just to recover themselves from debt.
jermaineb

- Scams are every where but shortly there is high rise in debt scam, only some strong rule or some law can stop this.
Silver Rose
(Guest) - I wrote about the "your debt can be written of because the contract is illegal" scam about three weeks ago on a page about
debt advice
. The trouble is people are desperate to believe it - if you look on the forums about money, you get shot down if you suggest that they are being silly if they think big lending companies have been lax about the wording of their loan contracts. They always say "I spoke to the man and he was a proper lawyer", and it's hope talking there. They hope they can get rid of tens of thousands of debt by paying some lawyer a £500 retention fee (proper lawyers cost way more than that!).
shruthi
- there a a lot of debt scams these days. need strong law to stop this things
aliaslucs
- this is very useful to us, thanks
- I think that some banks really do give a list of customers that have approved of their credit card, and they give that list to such marketing companies and will pay them for the list of people with contact numbers, i know this things because i once worked in an insurance company that scams people that's why i quit my job.
- Many companies tries to make money out of our debt and identifying is very difficult taks to us
- absolutely right. thanks..
lillyphantom
- You're right ... very interesting .. I agree
niitesh
- People try to make money out of everything thing these days and debt counseling is one the latest. Some are good but most of them don't really know what they are doing.
- Nice info
sophie_dfuss
- I agree, you are right. Thank you for sharing this advice :-)
woolford16
- thanks for the good advice, cheers for sharing
- nice one.thanks
WoolF
- it's just like the war business:)) we go to war, we destroy, then we go and rebuild with their money! the same here: they make us go into debt, so they then come and tell us how we can get out of it...it makes me sick!
- For now we don't consult to any legal experts online or in an individual person. We can still manage our own spending and saving and paying our loan. Maybe for people with big business that are struggling, they really need this consultation thing.
- Great advice .
-
Very helpull article. You are right about the scams

- I loved what you said I hope alot of people read it. It has some great advice.
- When one falls prey to a debt scammer, chances are he will get more debts instead of solving his debt problems. Your post will help many avoid getting trapped by debt scammers.

- I must say, when i am getting out of debt, i do it on my own, without anyone elses help especially some company who must make 10 times the amount from me.
I too proud a person to ask for money from people, therefore money troubles will get solved by myself and myself only.
saizo6
- Thanks for the information. It's also very true, I bet people are falling for these scams all the time because they are so desperate to get out of debt. I've seen these scams before and I can see how some are easily fooled by it. Who wouldn't want to get rid of their debt easily. All I have to say is that it is not that easy. I'm just going to stick it out and pay off my debts my way. It'll be a good learning experience for me.
smukherjee
- What about this scams.......
- thanks a lot friend.

- True ... I prefer to try my best to pay off my debts than listening to such scams. Sometimes I think even if it is illegal money, I still have to pay it, because I did spend it on shopping or buying something, so I still have to pay it with interest as well. I asked for it from the beginning and I should go and pay it till the end.
raighnesun
- i've no better ways but only do legitmate efforts to get out of my own debt.
-
we should not get into more trouble by the misguidance of the debt management companies aslo as for them we are just the clients and for us its our life and we can seek their advise to some extend and should never follow blindly what they tell as these companies are emerging a lot targeting people like us
beautyqueen26
- Unfortunately, many desperate consumers are duped into believing that they don't have to pay their debt and that there will be no consequences for going into deliquency.
But for situations such as student loans there can be serious results.
Thanks for your informative article.
Hope to read some more.
sisco100
- ya thats really true, but the major problem is that people dont know how to spend money wisely. personally i think that if people stop relying on their credit cards less then there is less of a chance of getting in to debt.
smukherjee
- Obviously we have to work hard for improvement.....
LauraT2009
- Thanks for sharing this. I always hang up on bogus calls offering to help me pay off my debts. If it sounds too good to be true then it normally is
Kenny Golde
(Guest) - One way to avoid being scammed by a bogus debt service is to settle your debts directly with your credit card companies yourself. Many people wrongly believe that they must have a company interface for them but it isn't true. You can call your credit card companies directly and negotiate your own settlements without having to give any money to a third party. I did it myself, reducing my credit card debt from $212,000 to $30,000. CBS News even did a story on me:

- thanks for information ...........this will at least give people idea to hook up with companies which can be trusted
- good information ,i faced many problems when i have been scammed .some one has been used my account i have found him and gave a complaint on him.
- Yes,more and more people want to make some improvment for their finances. We must work hard on it.
- Thank you for the information. I have always heard that debt consolidation is almost as made on your credit as a bankruptcy. I have always wanted to do the debt consol. however, my credit is already bad, I don't need it any worse.
twagner76
- Great points Debbie! A little research into the company can go a long way toward saving you money in the long run. It is a shame that people who are already worried about their finances have to worry about scams but that is the reality of the world we live in!
- Hopefully this article will help people really do their research about the company before they get involved with them. There are some good companies out there, unfortunately there are also many that are scams.
