- Paying weekly on debts is a sure fire way to reduce the over all debt and interest owed since interest is compiled daily.
jasmeet
- good comparision
- I think it's a great way to pay off debt, I'm sure it's hard for some people to stick with it until all their debt is gone but if you really want to be debt free it is the best way to do it.

- This is indeed a nice piece of information. I do believe and followed the "Higher Interest Debt First" method for clearing my personal debts.

- You can find out all the steps of the Avalanche by visiting Flexo at ConsumerismCommentary - follow the link in the article and it will take you directly to his article about how to do it. :)

- I am familiar with Dave Ramsey's Debt Snowball method, attacking the smaller debts first and building momentum. I am not familiar with the avalance method, but I definitely like the sounds of that one. Could you go into a little more detail? Does he suggest having an emergency fund and using the fund to payoff debt?

(Guest) - Interesting! I have never heard of the avalanche approach. Snowballing debt really does make sense but I would imagine it is hard for people to not see the money that gets snowballed as free money. It might be hard to convince people to keep pouring all of their money into debts only, even though they could choose instead to live a debt-free life.
