What NOT to do when a bill collector calls (by a former bill collector)

- Very informative, thanks for sharing it.
- good thought & great ideas, thanx
- nice informative post....................
- Thanks for the tip. It's a good one.
- Thanks a lot for the tips. Good article.
- In other words, be humble and learn to negotiate with the collector. The collector also should not treat the ones in debt like they are criminals or the worst people in the world just because they owe the company some money.

- That is some good information. I know that be it a collector or just the bank teller, everyone is human and they're just doing their jobs. Collectors aren't the reason your bills are high etc, so I think more people should try be respectful. That being said I know I've lost my temper a few times, even though I've never talked to a bill collector on the telephone (I don't believe).
I appreciate this information though and though I do hope I never have to be in the situation of debt (although I am in debt so to speak $200 + a little extra possibly) it's good to know what to expect and how to act!
- wow am i glad im not a debt collector - not a nice job i imagine!!

- Great don't tips! I totally agree with you. We must cooperate with the collector so that they will help us to solve the problem.

- True. I have been a tele-collector for credit cards and I heard all the possible lies in the world. They would even say on the phone (the person that I am looking for will say to me that "he/she is not around" even I am talking to him/her already), they lost their job (but they are still working in that company), they moved out of the house (even though they still live there) funny but true :-)

- thanks for your warning. I will be notice all of them when i chat with collector. Lying is worst for doing anything.
