scgodess - we fought for a while to avoid bankruptcy knowing it was the last thing we'd want to do.  But when we were in danger of being kicked out of our house, our cars were behind, we had a new baby, and my husband at the time (now my ex had been let go from his job and he made the majority of the income) we had no choice.  It did take a lot of weight off our shoulders at the time.  Stopped the debt collectors from calling and we were able to keep our cars and house.  It's taking a long time to clean up my credit though.  I'm working very hard to restore it and have no intention of doing it again.
