- getting laid off is very hard to accept, specially to those people who dedicate their whole life on the company, on my own opinion maybe before this things happen i will prepare first, if i am included, then a month or a week before it will happen i look for new job, so that when you have laid off you have already expecting some jobs or your already hired for those jobs you have applied for.
thinking and planning ahead will help us to solve our future problems.
aida0205

- These are all good suggestions. However if you find yourself out of work always try to look your best when your in the public eye. I was out of work several times and always take pride in how I look when I go out. Thank God! I have went to places to buy stuff I needed and got many jobs by looking my best and knowing what I was talking about when I went to buy the stuff I needed. This is just one example I went into a fabric store looking for material to make an outfit and the sales clerk did not know what I was looking for so I asked to speak to the manager of the store and she was so impress with the way I spoke of what I wanted and I was hired as an assistant manger that very day. You always got to look your best even in hard times.
- i wonder why it is always easier said than done. we can read as much self help articles and topics but in the end, the lack of income and cash gets in to our heads. it is a good start that we have something like this to help us with debt, and so on.. action does speak louder than words... have a worry free weekend everyone...
somecowgirl
- I don't ever plan to work in an office environment as I loathe the city but this is a great article!
- Getting laid off can certainly put a strain on a family not just financially but emotionally. It would help if family members are supportive of each other and are able to adjust to their situation.

- well that depends of your luck and expertise in any area.
Cos I know people who can't even screw a light bulb, not to mention having a civilized conversation...and they do not complain about money... but also if you are good at everything, you'll manage overcome all the odds, and those rich but dumb will fall down so bad....
- Very good article...From my personal experience it is so worth

- There's really a whole bunch of things that a person should do if he is laid off. And you've actually hit every detail of it. One good thing i've noticed is the fact your government has some good help that you can get even if it's just for a short time or a few financial assistance. You don't really enjoy that kind of help here in the Philippines. You have to do things on your own because the government is too busy fixing it's own problem.
- thanks for this tips.it really help me a lot to analyze things..
- wow... it is greats analistic and article
austenfan
- This is a very helpful article, what with the large number of laying off that had been happening today. The most important thing is to keep on looking for jobs and not lose hope.

- Many unemployed people can't make them cool, so they can't find a new job quickly. Then, do everything step by step as you said, I think they will find jobs if they are active.
- I will take it .
- I think that number 1 to 9 will work fine for me. I don't know about number 5, i will really skip this part very well. From number 10 to 16, well this is not common in our country. The only way we can resolve such is to go for Job hunt during Job Festivals.
- Great article !
sophie_dfuss
- Thanks for the advice. My sister got laid-off lately.
dexterous21
- Educational article. With the crisis that we have, it makes people confused and nervous of what to do when they get laid off.

aida0205

shruthi
- you can practice Yoga too as a mind relaxation technique
- Great job and great advice. Advice that hopefully I will never have to use. Thank you for all the useful information.
- When we are on a job, even for the low paid job, we are reluctant to quit and start up our own business. But about 10 years ago, when a large number of people got laidoff because of the so called industry structural adjustion, they started their own business, mostly in sales of good made in other areas, from small to big, they are the first to become better off. Being laid off forces you to start over again.
LauraT2009
- Excellent blog post and covers all areas of what to do if you lsoe your job. Unfortunately this is becoming too common, and more people are turning to the internet to make a living
cjknight
- What to do if you were injured on the job then your employer sent you a letter stating that your job had been terminated???
- Maybe I can add another.
It's a great time to relax your mind and have a great sleep and celebrate not having to work on a Monday! Haha. It's a time to look at your life and what do you really want in life. Think about what creative ideas you can do.
- Being unemployed isn't the end of the world, I have been unemployed for over a year. Staying positive is a major hurdle every day, cutting back on unnecessary spending is the easy part. I am fortunate since I have the space to have a vegetable garden and that has helped stretching the food budget, and it also helps keep your mind busy and stay active.

- You can plan to start something on your own. It can be anything that interests you and you have some proficiency in. Manyof us want to work on our own instead of working "under" boss. Take this as an opportunity and try to figure out what minimum investments can give you best results

(Guest) - Jobs are for people who wants to make money actively. What are you going to do if there are no jobs? What is the solution? The solution is to create income passively, not depend on the government to supply jobs. Get involved with a business system that is not publicly traded and debt free. If you want more information email me at

(Guest) - Some sound advice for those who are unemployed. Thanks for your contribution to Take Charge of Your Health Care Carnival.

(Guest) - I was surprised to see nothing about staying positive. This is probably one of the most difficult times anyone will ever face in their life. Staying positive and keeping things in perpspective will save you a mental breakdown...

(Guest) - "Make sure
you’re
resume reflects that"
The first person who should be laid off is the proofreader of this article.

(Guest) - Well Mr. Obvious..anyone knows not to create more debt at a time like this..Unless someone else is paying, who do you think is going to pay back all those student loans at the price tag of an education now-a-days..It is called bartering if you have to, digging ditches or scrubbing toilets if you have to..but..dont make a career of going to school now..what do u think Sherlock??
Mr. Obvious
(Guest) - No #$%^! Who is the genuis that wrote this. It amazes me at what people think other people don't know but they are so privy to. So what do you do when there are no jobs Sherlock? You go back to school and re-educate in a feild that is non-cyclical. You can have that, it's free.
